Omniflex Announces Installation
& Startup of New Film Inspection System

GREENFIELD, Massachusetts USA - Omniflex, Inc., of Greenfield, Massachusetts, a technological leader in the extrusion of super-thin TPU and other hard-to-extrude specialty TPE films, today announced the installation and startup of a new, 100% inspection system for its Transport® and Vacuflex® thin-film production lines. The new film inspection system is capable of detecting and documenting pin holes, voids, gels, wrinkles, streaks and dark or light contaminants as small as 0.5 mm. It will be used to scan all flat-die extruded gloss, natural, matte and colored Transport and Vacuflex films, included those cast on translucent polyethylene and polyester carriers.
Omniflex's new inspection system provides reliable defect detection, identification and photo-quality imaging. It is capable of printing a high-resolution grayscale image of each defect. The machine operator has not only 100% real-time inspection status and control, but also complete roll-by-roll documentation of any potential defect and its location.
This proprietary, 100% inspection system will assure that Omniflex customers continue to receive the most consistent and highest quality waterproof-breathable barrier films available, without increasing product cost. Additionally, electronic and hard-copy documentation of the visual inspection log for each finished roll of film can accompany the final product to the customer.

Omniflex Transport-brand films are thin, waterproof, breathable, barrier films that have high moisture vapor transmission rates, excellent chemical resistance, good drape, quietness, superb stretch and recovery, as well as providing a complete viral barrier. They are available in polyurethane (TX1500), copolyester (TX2000) and ether-amide (TX4000) series films. Vacuflex-brand films are moldable, lubricant-free, heat-resistant, polyurethane barrier films that have exceptional adhesion properties that make them ideal for lamination to other substrates. Gauge on either brand film can range from 0.2 to 0.8 mils when cast on carrier, 0.8 to 6 mils without carrier. Widths up to 68 inches are available.
