Omniflex Expands Into Asia,
Opens Three New Sales Offices
Super-thin Omniflex waterproof-breathable films are used in a wide variety of performance apparel and footwear

GREENFIELD, Massachusetts USA - Omniflex, LLC, of Greenfield, Massachusetts, a leader in the manufacturer of super-thin, high-performance, waterproof-breathable barrier films, today announced that it has established sales offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei.
Omniflex already has significant business in Asia for its polyurethane, copolyester and ether-amide waterproof-breathable barrier films. The company markets them to the worldwide apparel, footwear and medical products markets under the Transport® and Vacuflex® brand names. Omniflex is also the global sales agent for DuPontT Active Layer* technology.
Opening sales offices in the region will allow the company to provide increased service to existing customers, as well as a more familiar contact and service point for potential new customers. This move will also help assure the most efficient interaction between Omniflex and Asian film/textile laminators, converters, fabricators and OEMs, resulting in the best performing apparel, footwear and medical products possible, whether the customer is a Pacific-rim firm or a U. S. company that manufactures in the far east.
According to Paul Darby, president of Omniflex, all Transport and Vacuflex film products will continue to be manufactured in the company's two Greenfield production facilities. He added, "Our waterproof-breathable barrier film technology can improve the performance of any garment, shoe, boot or medical product, regardless of where they will be manufactured or assembled." In explaining the reason for the expansion in these Asian markets, Darby commented, "Our research shows there is an increasing demand for high-quality, super-thin, waterproof-breathable films that is not being filled by an Asian film manufacturer. We feel it is a tremendous opportunity for Omniflex." Super-thin Omniflex Transport and Vacuflex brand films are available in thicknesses ranging from 0.2 to 10 mils, and in widths up to 68 inches. When laminated to fabric, the resulting textile composite can be used in a wide variety of performance apparel and footwear to keep the wearer dry and comfortable despite the outside environment or his activity level, and at a reasonable price. Mr. Darby also observed, "Our additive technologies, such as odor control for films used in apparel and footwear applications, infection control in medical films, as well as the availability of the DuPont Active Layer film products, can be of great benefit to both domestic and international customers in building a highly effective brand strategy." Since 1994, Omniflex has been a leader in the manufacture of super-thin, high-performance films from thermoplastic polyurethane and other difficult-to-extrude specialty polymers for use in critical apparel, medical, automotive and industrial applications using blown-film, cast-on-carrier and flat-die extrusion technologies. The company markets these films under the Transport® and Vacuflex® brand names.
